splazsh

wicked album cover....
the album itself is pretty good aswell. quirky stuff.

I love it becuase it appears pretty easy to design, and as i'm not a very good designer (yet,hopefully...) I can relate to it. Or be inspired by it. I'm not sure.

Andre Beato

Our first brief for this module requires us to create a series of three typographical posters based on the idea of 'opposites'. After brainstorming a few ideas I decided to go on the theme of 'analogue vs digital', a subject that means a lot to me in various ways.....vinyl versus mp3......hand-rendered versus digital artwork, etc, stuff like that. I found this guy in an issue of Computer Arts that had a few articles focussed on the matter of hand rendered artwork, pros and cons and whatnot. Anyway I REALLY like this:

It shows the process of taking a piece of typography on the journey of analogue to digital. Nice. Doesn't really show the opposition of the two styles though, which is what I am going to try and achieve.

Some other nice pieces he has done:

I love Lisbon aswell.

Standard vector job, nice though.

Steve Wilson

'Steve Wilson takes the spirit of 80s New York, combines rock imagery from the 70s, and squeezes it through a brain full of circuses and tribal body art. Steve's techniques are as eclectic as his influences, harnessing the spontaneity of pen, pencil, collage, and play-doh, with the endless possibilities of tools like Photoshop and Illustrator'

breedlondon.com

no point me trying to summarise this guy when the website does it so well for me.....just another guy doing something better than the last guy. He seems to enjoy making faces out of other faces/body parts. You can tell a lot of his material is digital but still contains the SOUL and the feel of craftsmanship....which I like a lot.

definately definately the best advert I've seen in a long time, in my opinion obviously. I've never seen anything so flawless and perfected EXCEPT I hate it at the end when they spoil it all with the 'is that Linda'; 100% could have done without that, should have remained free of speech the entire way.

The contrast with the vintage ads shown below is just amazing, perfectly demonstrates the nature of the advertising game.

lucky strike stop motion/cartoon

couple of vintage lucky strikes adverts. amazingly naive, really. represents the state of the world at a very, very different time.

design for screen, 1934

design for very old screens, a quality animation demonstrating the importance of preparation, amongst other things.

more shiny binary stuff.

seeing as the guy who makes this is obviously a madman at computer arts and stuff. could do with a few more images. my guess is that they're all photoshop jobs. they are mad, and digitalised to the point where they're almost really horrible to look at. truly nasty. i hate them. but they are really impressive.

Grace

do you really need a computer to do this....

20 20 Visions

i rekon with a bit of patience this must be proper easy to make.

Cute

i hate this.
